Cyndy Carstens’ paintings of expansive skies and wide-open spaces represent an ultimate freedom of the soul tempered by images beckoning sensations of breath and struggles, rest and trials. The artist states, "My work is about promises made to our hearts and the dreams we hold there, stimulating one to search for inner joy, hope and healing while promoting social change, tolerance and acceptance."

She continues, “I believe art in all its forms – from visual to music to dance – can heal broken dreams . . . And dreams can heal broken hearts."

Infinite distances in Carstens’ paintings fluctuate between the recognizable and the abstract. Color and texture move the eye across a horizon like musical notes singing of peace and harmony.

"Composition and color are the basis of my large-scale paintings, capturing the eye with igniting strokes of energy. However, it is the imagery and use of multi-layered color bars that exude an essence of solitude and compassion – simple yet complex – personal, yet universally understood."

Cyndy volunteers her time to Maggie’s Place and Hope for Women Arts, each a charity supporting women in difficult situations, sharing the process of healing and often speaks to groups on visualization, optimism and individual empowerment. She also donates 15% of all her art sales to help support these organizations.

Cyndy Carstens paintings can be found in private and corporate collections across the United States and Canada. Her work has been featured in many exhibitions throughout the U.S. including Manhattan Arts International’s “Celebrate The Healing Power of Art”, New York, NY, in which her work was selected as one of the Best in Painting. She was also recently honored with an Artist of Distinction Award during the “True Artist” Exhibition from Stillpoint Gallery of Brunswick, ME.

Exhibiting in up to 20 juried group competitions a year, she has also procured a number of one-person exhibitions at Alta Space of Phoenix, The Windmill Gallery of Scottsdale, Gallery Nineteen of Phoenix and the West Valley Art Museum, Surprise, AZ.

Carstens and her paintings have been featured in numerous newspaper and magazine articles over the years, and she has appeared as a special guest to discuss her work on local news programs including KSNW Daily News Show (Kansas), KTVK Good Morning Arizona, and KAZ-TV AM Arizona.
